Introduction
Animals need it. Plants need it. We need it. Businesses need it. Factories need it. Utilities need it. There isn’t a part of our life that doesn’t need clean water, and lots of it. Somehow we have forgotten that water is a precious resource that we need to protect so that we have clean water both now and in the future.
Water can be protected if we make wise decisions concerning the use of our land’s natural resources. How we use the land is directly tied to the health of our water. How do you use and how can you help protect our water?
Every person lives in a watershed, which is the area of land that catches precipitation, such as rain and snow, and drains into a stream, river, or lake. There are 45 watersheds within the state of Missouri but only 1 watershed encompasses the Skyline School District.
By studying the Bryant Creek Watershed, which is a part of the North Fork White River Watershed, you will understand more about the connected creeks like Fox Creek, Rippee Creek, and Clever Creek. You will also learn how humans impact watersheds, the type of pollution that affects the Bryant Creek Watershed, and what is being done to protect our watershed.
